    Spring review thread

If you have some aftermarket springs could you post what they are and how you like them?

I have H&R sport springs coupled with Bilstein sport shocks. Also, I have ST swaybars, BMP strutbar, Meyle RSMs with Z3 reinforcement plate, e36 m3 steering rack, LSD.

I really like the setup. Handles great, but still tollerable on the street.

I have Bav Auto springs and oem (boge) shocks/struts. Noticed a very slight improvement in cornering with an equally slight decrease in ride comfort.

The reason I got them was for appearance though. I just wanted to get rid of the gap in the front tire well that exists with the stock suspension. My second concern was to not give up too much ride comfort as I live in Los Angeles which has the worst road conditions in the world outside of Fallujah.

Your reason for changing your suspension will entirely drive which setup you get. If I was looking for improved handling, I would have gone with a completely different setup than the one I got.

I have KW 55/55mm springs with bilstien sports on my 85 318i. So far after having them for a month i love them. Id say that they are a bit stiff, but ive never really been in many other e30s with different suspension setups to compare it too. From what i hear kw is a quality company so i had no worries when i bought them.

Corners awsome and off ramps and on ramps are soo much fun now. next up will be treehouse CABs and some 325is/m3/cab(watever) sway bars.

I have FK 60/40 springs with bilstein sports. Super tight. Almost too harsh for the street. Handles like it's on rails. May need to upgrade rear sway still. Sometimes the rear feels a little loose. It may go away when I finish installing the urethane sfb.

I have IE Stage III springs with KONI SA struts and I absolutely love the setup. Both ride height and performance. I am runnning no spring pads in the front and THR CABs so it is a bit noisy through the city, but it handles like a dream.

upgrading your rear swaybar will only make the rear end more loose.. you should check your rear alignment though, the wrong toe setting can also cause this.

I should probably have phrased the rear handling issue better. there's not a problem with the rear losing traction and getting loose in that manner. If feels soft and kinda rubbery sometimes - typical worn sfb issue from what I understand. So, it's probably the sfb, which I'm currently replacing. If the rear still feels too soft aftern urethane sfb in comparison to the front, only then will I consider the sway bar upgrade. thanks for the advice and feedback tho.

never heard of vogtland springs, but I got my HR sports pricematched from Turner for $210 in july.

                    Setup
-Lemforder:control arms, front sway bar links, M3 CAB's, Tierods
-BMP:urethane sway bar mounts front, stage 2 RSM's
                    -Bilstein sports & HR sports
-Turner reinforcement plates for the rear towers, I had to modify them to make them fit.

planning on 14mm rear bar and BMP urethane bushings and new drop links
                    I
would like to replace the trailing arm and subframe bushings but I dont want
to fuck with that stuff, not right now anyways

                      my setup

                      eibach pro-kit springs
                      bilstein sports
                      m3 CAB's

i must say it is a very very harsh ride but its not much different from my stock suspension because that was all blown anyway(except the rear) so im used to the harsh ride...other then that the god damn thing handles like its on rails and i have almost Zero body roll once i finally replace all of the rubber bushings in the rear and get new sway bar bushings for the front it should be much better my TAB's are completely shot and my toe is all fucked up in the rear

H&R sports currently. A nice upgrade from stock, but leaves much to be desired. Planning on going IE stage 3 and custom valved Bilsteins soon.

If you are AT ALL serious about your suspension, you will look into rear toe and camber eccentrics.

is this guy retarded, eibachs are one of the softest springs out there, now i know why he's banned.... just so no one get's confused my mom says she likes the way my H&R Sports and bilstiens ride, and they're a fair amount stiffer than eibachs.....
