    strut moves in and out

    i can move the right strut in and out a little bit with a slight poping noise.

    looking at les schwab receipt i found in the car, at the same time the steering rack which is now leaking was replaced (about 10,000 miles ago) the 2 front struts were replaced, and the 2 front "strut cushions" were replaced. did les schwab just do a shitty job or what?

              Wow, $115 for a 2 hour tops job. Insane.

              Definately make sure the collars are tight. You can do it without taking anything off the car, just jack the front up so the wheels sag fully.

                  Les Schwab can take it up the ass as far as I'm concerned. We have had nothing but problems with them. Everything from a stripped lug to multiple bad batteries.

                      Exactly why you 1) do your own work or 2) have a good shop do your work.

                          yeah th PO payed a total of $771 for a steering rack which leaks and is falling apart 11k later and new struts which wernt put on right. I jacked the car up and couldnt move the strut any more. The collar seemed at least hand tight. but then i dropped it back down and could move it and i took the cap off the strut tower and watched it when the strut moved and it didnt seem to be moving, so it seems the collar is the problem. Time for new suspension i guess

                              Ha! I think $65-70/ hour is pretty normal for an independent shop. My dealer is $102/hour.

                                  You are right Jarvis, it's fair pricing, but what I meant was I think its funny that people pay to have struts installed.
