    Choosing shocks for lowering

Best shock for lowered on high spring rates
I'm trying to decide what my best choice would be for shocks on my car. I have a German engineering Coilover setup with 450/650 rates, I'm going to lower the car but not slam it. I've read about using ix shocks and g60 shocks but I'm not sure. I'm currently looking at a set of konis but I don't want to bottom them out. Any help here?

    Are you shortening the housings?

If not, go with Bilstein Sport or Koni Sport.

then get stock length koni's or bilstein sports.

I recommend shortening the housings and going with short body shocks.

How low do you plan on driving the car? If you want it anything lower than half way down the spindle, then you will be riding pretty uncomfortably. Shortened housings are the way to go.

If you go with bilstein sports make sure you cut the bump stops.

I just want to eliminate the wheel gap. Nigel is there anything in specific you'd recommend running so as to not bottom out the struts?

I run bilsteins on most of my cars except for the one with the KYB AGXs. Although I've been sectioning all my strut tubes. The diesel is probably going to be next.

Okay so what's the best option front and rear if I section the tubes and how much is recommended be cut out?

I'd say ix inserts up front with a 1.5" section and camaro rear shocks. You will scrape your frame rails before you bottom out the suspension.

And the shocks valving is good with the high spring rates?

With your rates you will be at the upper limit of the shock's valving, but yes the valving is good.
