    quick, need help

so i believe i majorly fucked my tie rod.

I tried to unbolt the 17mm nut on top but i think i used a little too much force and now it spins the entire shaft in place. I can't tighten or loosen the bolt.

What do you guys recommend? The tie rods look pretty damn new too.

Put a jack under the tie rod end to hold it tight in the spindle and it will keep it from turning while you remove the nut.

      Got a couple of options
Tie rod fork or jack, put force against the bolt and it should lock it in place between the tie rod and the bolt by using pressure.
Vice grip the boot (risk damaging the boot) or vice grip where the threads meet with cloth or something that won't damage your threads
Depending on the manufacturer of your tie rods, you may have an allen key recess on the bolt where you can stop it from spinning. You probably do, considering those tie rods look new and IIRC all new OEM manufacturers of tie rods have an allen key recess.

thanks for the responses. I tried the jack, no matter how much pressure i put below, it still spins in place. and I don't have a pair of vice grips readily available. Where is the allenkey recess? At the bottom of the tierod there isn't anything.

Oxy-acetalyne (if you have it) on the nut and an impact wrench

The allen key recess will be at the top of the bolt. If you have access to an impact, heat the fucker up, impact it off. Or perhaps you can heat it up and give it a quick jolt with your socket

enough pressure with a jack means you are just picking the car up with the bottom of that tie rod.

it's not just touching, it's not a bit of pressure, it's the weight of the car on that tie rod.

the only impact wrench i have is battery powered, so it doesn't have much torque. i checked to see for the allen key recess but it's rusted out completely. How should i go about heating it up?

i wasn't lifting the car, i still have a jackstand under it supporting all the weight on this side.

Tighten the nut as best as you can and drive to the nearest garage for them to take care of it.

it won't tighten or loosen, i don't think it's safe at all to even let it down on it's own weight. The nut has like three threads on the shaft as of right now...

Do you have an impact gun? You need to jack it up, lift up the car a little bit from that point and use the impact gun on it. Otherwise, put a breaker bar on it and hit it quickly with a hammer.

                        This is a normal thing.

Otherwise, I'd cut it off. Or grind off the nut to the point you could break it off.

ok, new problem i removed all the restricting attachments that go to the strut/hub (tie rod, sway bar, caliper) but i can't get the assembly out. In the pelican diy it says that it should clear the chassis without having to remove the control arm.
