I'd go 8k front and probably 12k rear or 10k front 12-14k rear

Like my 8k fronts but 10k rears are a tad soft

Also running a larger rear sway bar

Supposedly the stock valving can handle + or - 2k in either direction without needing to be made custom.

I'm confused on why these coilovers needs to be welded to the upright?

Because e30's don't have removable knuckles/spindles like most cars. The stock strut tube with spring perch is welded on OEM

Remove everything from the rear. Just have the springs no pads or adjusters

Bc and i assume meagan as well sell shorter rear springs with whatever rates you want. I leave the pads in the rear to help securely locate the spring and adjuster but plenty of people dont.

If you see that your wheel bearings need to be replaced soon will it be a good idea to weld the 360° on the knuckle? Im assuming it will be a pain to do the job.

Welding all the way around would be ideal if possible. That being said I have close to 20k miles on them at this point without issue I don't believe it's unsafe to not weld 360 degrees. I also have decided to step up to 8k front 10k rear rates going with a slightly shorter rear spring than stock if I hadn't done a m50 swap I would still be content with the softer rates and m42.

So does this mean you bought new springs to make the rear 10k?

Correct I am using the OG front 8k springs that came with the coils, and new rear 10k springs.

quote from BC (contacted them instead of megan seemed easier, and the coils are identical from what I can tell)
"To get the desired rate in the rear , we would have to change up the spring type from S-barrel to linear. The standard length for the rear spring is 160mm. If you wanted to move up to 10k or 12k we would also need to drop the length of the spring . The 10/12k is available in either a 140mm or 120mm length depending on your preference.

Replacement springs for a pair of 2 is $100 plus shipping to your location."

If you wanted to order different rates just call them up and tell them you have their e30 coil overs.

Awesome!! that is super helpful. I am going to buy a set of Megans but I know from reading around that I am gonna want/need stiffer rates.

Bc also revalves the shocks to match the spring rates. Why not just get from bc?
