Hey Brandon, will you be at your awards party? I'm not in your region but apparently I got the championship in SM in your region so I'll go have some pizza and get the tee shirt. I'm looking forward to racing with you this coming season. Looking at your build thread your car is coming along nicely.

No, I was invited but declined.

I have only gone to that one event since I have been building this e30 for the last two years. We will not even be in the same class this year. SM/SSM only allows up to a 3.0 engine. I will have a 3.5 m30b35 this year, then later in the year I will have it turbo'd. I will be in SM2, you will stay in the normal SSM.

Wait, what??? lol you may not want to use rules that are 10 years old. SM2 became SSM a couple years back, and an E30 would only be forced to run in SSM if it didn't meet the weight requirements for SM. Or if you just decided it would be more fun in SSM for some reason.

Per SM rules, minimum weight for an E30 m30b35=

(RWD) 1800+200(3.5L)=2500. You can subtract 200 pounds if you are using less than a 275mm tire. So lets assume your not running massive flares and you do turbo it, you would have:

(RWD) 1800+200(3.5L, add 1.4L for forced induction, so 4.9)-200=2580. So, your car will still be in SM assuming your not running 275's, and your car isn't less than 2580lbs.

        Edit: Current rules here:

Pages 107-113 and 199-201 are what your looking for.

Thanks^ I guess someone there told me something wrong. That was while I was planning on getting an s52 and questioned them about a 3.2 swap. Said it would bump me to SM2, I have no clue about the rules and have not looked into it till I searched and clicked that link I provided.

They inspect my car and place me.

Current weight is 2,428lbs with 1/4 tank and roof rack xD I have since removed more weight and have not scaled it again. Without rank I think I am in mid 2,300s. With just the weight loss I outran Swanny and his M20b25 to 110 by a car. He caught after I did not have any top end left to gain more.

Whoa, I need to catch up on your build, what have you removed to get it down to 2428?? I really should go weigh my car, the curiousity is really starting to bug me.

And it rocked my brother's m42 5spd vert to topend. Weight loss is HUGE free power gain. Interior is overrated ;)

Next on the list is roll down windows, Porsche style door pulls. There is a while write up on E30tech that I am following and trying to see if I can lower more. I also skimmed ALL of the metal that housed the sunroof panel and guides. Sawzall and a cutting wheel took care of that. That was about 18lbs, I know I am mid to low 2,300lbs

That's pretty crazy. I'd love to tackle the same, but I'm really trying to step away from the NVH thing now. And I like my interior :p

I have Recaros and Schroth harnesses, good enough for me.
