Rear shock mounts.

Brand new e30 rear shock mounts lasted me a whole 2 weeks before the mount actually tore through where it supports the shock and the car was just bouncing freely with no shock to hold it in place.

I fixed it up to hold and its drivable and sturdy but it rattles a little bit. I dont want to buy the e30 ones they'll just give again in a matter of weeks. Are there any reinforced aftermarket ones that will last me a little longer? Someone told me that e46 rear mounts are the same as on e30s and will fit on and are much more durable. True?

Any ideas?

you probably installed them wrong? They should have lasted more than two weeks.

Check out meyle heavy duties, or urethane setup if you're that concerned. I've had meyle heavy duties for ~4 months, no problems...

E46 Cabrio ones fit and are said to be stiffer, but if you tore through a brand stock mount in 2 weeks you must have some insanely stiff suspension, and you might want to look at some billet mounts like GC or JT Designs. They are about $100 for a pair and have a lifetime warrenty.

JC Designs. Stay away from GC mounts.

tms sells some that have a lifetime warranty that are still rubber bushed

cant use a rear strut bar (not that it matters) with the gc ones. plus i've seen them bend shock shafts. awesome!

...yeah i really care about rear strut bars... they make what one for the cabs... whats recomended, id like to pay no more than 90 for a nice solid set

GCs rear mounts use too stiff of a urethane in the center. The shock needs to be able to swing back and front a little bit as the suspension travels and with too stiff of a mount it will tweak the shock shaft. The JTD mounts are billet but have a softer compound in the center.
