can i rotate the steering knucle without having to drop my steering rack?

91 318I, I replaced the steering rack and apparently the reman rack was not centered from the factory.

So I installed it and now my steering wheel is upside down. Easy fix, except I'm having a hard time getting the knucle off the threads from the rack. I can only get it about half way. Is there enough room to remove the steering knucle from the rack so I can flip it over, or will I have to take the rack out to get it off the threads?

if you use a friend and a pry bar, maybe.

most likely not though. fortunately for you, removing 2wd e30 steering racks is not that hard.

this is the easy solution; be careful with the airbag related stuff though since you have a 91

I was actaully able to do it with the rack still in place. Took about an hour and a large screw driver, major pain in the ass though.. for a while I didn't think it would be possible.

Lol, It would of taken 5 minuts to take the steering wheel off/on.
