GC camber plates help

has anyone had issues installing the adjustable ground control camber plates? The bottom of the plates do not have enough clearance from upper spring perch. When the wheel is turned the bottom of the plate catches the spring perch. I have bilstein shocks and springs on the car.

i believe yours are made for coilover only. gc should have a different one made just for lowering/stock spring. give gc a call

Correct, they will only work if they were designed to run with stock diameter springs.

theres 3 different ones. stock spring perch ones, race items (i believe these require the stock spring perch?) and the coilover ones that will only take a/m springs and need to be ordered to specific requirements to what size spring you have.

Those are "Spec e30" plates, made for one thing only: To make a Spec e30 racecar go fast.

You should mount them in the car, and set the front camber to -3.5.

Then the spring perch will just barely clear the mounts, in order to have the car as low as possible in class where every car has the same springs and struts.

This is all designed to be this way. Any other design would be slower.

Yeah that's what the car is being built for, but i'm just having an issue getting these put on. I'm not doing the install but the shop that is doing it is having the problems. So what you're saying is have them put the plates on and with the camber adjusted to -3.5 they will clear the upper spring perch during steering? What did you cut and re weld the perch for?

The shop may need to call GC, but honestly they shouldn't have any questions. This is extremely basic stuff.

What did you cut and re weld the perch for?

The spec e30 rules (http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/spec30_rules.pdf) do not allow anyone to replace the stock upper perch . Therefore the car must use the stock upper perch (31 33 1 128 524), GC Camber/caster plates do NOT come with a perch, because you already have them and they are required by the rules.

If there is any welding of the upper perch (dropped perch?), then the car is illegal, so GC does not do any welding.

If you could let me know how many forums you posted this in, I would like to reply to all of them. I am sure you did not want to give the impression that there was something wrong with your Ground Control camber/caster plates, but that could be inferred when posted in many places.
