The question wasn't "are my bilsteins gonna perform like they should with high spring rates" the questiom was "what is the max spring rate for bilstein sports"

Is a stock bilstein sport going to perform like a revalved bilstein? Absolutely not.

Will it work for the application? Yes.

That was the point of this thread. And for the sake of argument, everyone has learning to do. There is always someone who knows more than you. Hence why were are all on this FORUM in the first place.

Actually that question was a minor side note that I really don't care about anymore. All I want to know is the ideal spring rate that I should run given the information that I have (car's weight and GR2 shocks). Does anyone have any guidance?

I think your definition of "work" is different than mine.

OP, there is no definite answer to your question, spring rate is largely preference, driving style/conditions and typical load you are going to carry.

Just judging by your sig pic i would suggest the stiffest springs you can find to keep your oil pan off the ground. And the stiffest shocks.

vivek. just go with 550/700 and call it a day. your JOM's which you run now are probably about 300/400.

I'm only doing this once. It doesn't cost me any more to research it well and get the optimal rates. I think my front is around 500 and the rear is exactly 448 but it's progressive so it's dumb.

Buy cheap used bilsteins, have them revalved to match your exact spring rates, $profit.

No way some random kyb mismatched shocks will compare - it has it's purpose of coursee but a rebuil bilstein is better than new and definitely more "custom" than something off the shelf.

Also, choosing your shocks first, then matching springs to them is a bass ackwards way of choosing a setup.

The only thing is, I've heard some very good things about those shocks. They're supposed to be much stiffer than Bilsteins and I see no real reason to assume they're much lower quality. I know I'm doing this backwards, but as long as the end result is decent I really don't care. Re-valving bilsteins would really be ideal, but it's not exactly cheap to do (compared to the KYBs), and I'm really working on a budget.

go 550/700 and be done with it.

The shocks you want are so cheap I am not sure why youre even second guessing any of this.

Well there's gotta be an "ideal" ratio matched to my weight balance, right? I emailed Mark at GC and I'll most likely take his advice, whatever it is.
