    E36 318i rear springs

    Hello,

I am looking to lower my '84 325e moderately. I have a pair of e36 318i rear springs. I know that they will fit but does anyone know how these will affect the rear ride height and or spring rate?

I am mostly curious because I already have the springs in hand.

    Thanks!

It'll most likely go up. What's the free length of those springs? If it's over 9-ish inches don't even bother. They're probably a stiffer rate than the e30 springs.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Agreed, I wouldn't be surprised if they RAISED the car.

If you want cheap go with E30 M3 springs or the ST springs.

Ok I agree the overall length is 9 1/2"... So no go on the rears I bet. I did just read the ST thread and ordered a set so should be good to go. BTW is 2" too low for 16" x 8" bbs style 5s with adapters, final offset +5 mm front, using 205/45-16s? This is for an early '84 325e, again...

I would say it'll be pretty damn close, but there's a wheel and tire fitment thread for that. I don't know how much I'm dropped over stock, but 205/50/16 with an offset like that rubbed constantly for me (I tried it, and constantly means 100% of the time, front and rear). I think that you should consider going with slightly thinner adapters unless you'll be running camber plates. Even if it doesn't rub at that height, that's a pretty aggressive offset and you could end up pulling out a fender lip or worse.

Thanks for the input, I did a test mount with one tire 205/45 and it has a nice roll to the tread so hoping that there will be more clearance. Maybe I'll switch to the wheel fitment thread.
