bilsrein front insert lock rings necessary?

bought bilstein and h&r race second hand from a local and installing this weekend. The front inserts did not come with a lockring or spacer, but the inserts fit pretty snug.

only one of the DIY I found online mention anything about the lock ring. Is it absolutely necessary I get and install the lock ring?

Are you referring to the gland nut. The part that hold the insert in place. I suggest you get them. Bilstein sells them for for about 25 bucks for them.

That's it, gland nut, I wish I knew that before I ripped my front end apart lol
Would it be ok to ride around a couple days without them while I wait for them to come in?

I don't think there will be any damage from limited driving w/o the gland nuts. But the shocks will only be working in compression and provide no rebound control. It may also be noisy.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Yep, I'm going to park it and hitch a ride tomorrow, test drive was fine but knocking a bit, no point in screwing something up, thanks guys!
