IE strut bar touching intake manifold

I installed my strut bar and it is touching the intake manifold. When I crank the car it vibrates and continues while I'm driving. It needs to be fixed immediately. Has anyone had these same problems? What should I do? I am going to email Ireland Engineering tonight. Here are some pictures...

what engine mounts do you have? Installed dozens of these on a m20 not an issue, m42 yes.

Good idea Nick. I had mine notched where it touches. Mine needed about 1/4 inch of clearance so spacers weren't a option for me.

There the stock mounts. Any ideas? I think I'm going to try to put some spacers to see if that helps.

Simplest solution would be putting a thick washer on the stud and then installing the bar over that.

Step one should be to talk to IE. Ask them if they have encountered anyone with the same issue before.

So has your car even been in a wreck?

Yeah, it hits. Mine's in the garage until the 24v goes in.

The first 2 bars I got from IE were crap. The third bar still didn't fit. I had Castro notch the bar, then it took me and 2 of my buddies to get it on.

Ps. Jacking up the car doesn't do shit for installing a crap bar.

Wowzer .... if you went through 3 bars and none initially fit, you might start thinking its maybe the car and not the bar?

Jacking up the car can/does change the distance of the shock towers regardless of the bar.

I had no issues with the bmp bar or the Sparco bar. They both fit my car flawlessly. I even had the IE guy look at my car at bimmerfest when I got the third bar and he was stumped too.
