    Steering options unboosted/faster ratio?

Well ive been fairly disappointed with the steering feel and slowness of my e30 after driving the new e90s (active steeering is THE shit). I'm gonna be doing a driver's school/HPDE or something in spring (my first time).

The question is, should i just remove PS and replace some rubber to sharpen things up? What exactly is the precedure for this? Or should I swap the rack and replace some rubber?

Another thing is that there is some awful creaking/groaning coming from my steering now. All ive done is check the fluid and it is full. Usually does it more when its cold...so lets take this into account when figuring cost, which is really not a big deal anyhow.

Your P/S filter is killing flow. Replace it.

Removing P/S will not quicken anything up. It will just make it slower.

You need to change your rack to one with a lower ratio if you want to quicken steering response.

well, obvliously removing the power steering is a cheap solution to the symptom that bugs me most, the over boosted feeling. Adding some weight and improving the feel would be good. Swapping the rack might be excessive given the car's value, though it could really liven up the attitude of the car.

350mm is pretty much the lowest. If you are tall (6 foot+) it will still cut the very tops of the gauges off a little bit.

I just put in a z3 rack. It probably cost me about $120 total. With the stock rack i didnt use power steering and i liked it. I dont know if I will be able to do it with this rack though. Even with the power steering im sure a faster rack will give you the un boosted feel you are looking for. The steering in my m3 feels pretty damn good even with PS

Yea, the z2 rack unboosted would be unbearable. What exactly was the modification required for the install of that rack?

Im about 5'11" so i should be good with 350mm wheel. Thats pretty close to the top of my list of things to do.
