Bumping this thread. I actually hadn't seen it in a long time. I've raised the car up some, as the car i S52-swapped, and the oil pan sits lower than the M20 one would. I was also concerned that the steering geometry was being compromised.
Note that the wheels I'm running are 15"s. Tires are 205-50-15. And there was still a LOT of room to go lower front & rear. These are holding up great...although I still haven't gotten around to getting any bump stops!
The top mounts are the GC 'Race' Camber/Caster plate. Spring rates are 550/650. LOVE this setup!!!! Thanks for the great work, Ross - we'll be doing my 5-lug for the DD soon, too, muchacho!!

Just read through this whole thread. I am just recently learning the difficulties of E30 front strut design and I'd have to say, I'd be willing to ship my front struts out to have similar modifications made. I purchased my car with Ireland Engineering springs, which apparently have a 2" drop from factory, which i was surprised to know is actually rather steep in comparison to other typical approaches from H&R and GC. Though I am not trying to Stance out my car or replace oil pans every month, I find it very ugly that my rear tires are tucked perfect and my fronts have about 6 inches of gap fender to tire...
IronFreak, would you be willing to do so? And if so, would you be sourcing your own perches/adjuster columns/top hats/springs?
