Bilsteins Sports needed for Races? And camber plates for 235 section tires?

I picked up a set of H&R races and I have good factory struts. A new set of sports all around would be like $500 which I would rather spend buying a good mig welder with. I know races+sports are the classic suspension setup but are they really needed or are they more of a recommendation?

Also I'm currently rocking Apex ARC-8s with 235 section tires. Would camber plates be necessary to avoid rubbing or can I leave stuff stock?

You will need a shock more suited for you new ride height. You will wear out your factory shocks and struts quickly. There are other options besides the billy sports though. I believe several guys are running a strut and shock from KYB that are around $35 a corner.

I run kyb gr2 fronts, camaro agx adjustables in the rear with h+r races and front drophats. Real good combo for the price imo.

The point of the shock is to control the spring. You'll be using springs with 3x time rate of factory springs. So they won't be able to control it. You'll have a very bouncy ride, and the car will handle like crap on bumpy roads. Even Bilstein Sports are dampened a little soft for H&R Races. But they are one of the best off-the-shelf options that are affordable.

You'll be close with 235's. You may end up catching the fender if you have the wheel turned and hit a bump/transition too hard.

I rocked H+R race with stock blown fronts and KYB Gas-a-Just rear shocks. When I went to a set of new Bilstein sports it was a world of difference. You won't be getting the most out of the springs with dampers that don't match.
