Suspension maintenance.

So, getting ready to do some suspension work. Going to do Bilstein sports with Vogtlands and e90 drop hats. I figured while i was replacing stuff i could go ahead and do s/f bushings and a new guibo. Anything have something i should add? I have been looking for a good list of bushings and what not to replace but haven't been able to find the "definitive" list.

Inspect the front suspension for wear, the car could need new tie rods and control arms. It almost certainly will need control arm, subframe, and trailing arm bushings. And it probably needs new motor, transmission, and differential mounts. Replace the upper strut/shock mounts when changing the shocks.

I just overhauled my entire suspension. Here's a list of things I wished I'd purchased beforehand:

New driveshaft bolts/locknuts
New cab bolts/washers
New diff mount bolt/washer/locknut
New tab locknuts
7/8" crowfoot wrench
Brake lines/fittings/flare tool
Axle lockplates
2x 5/8" lag bolts (helps to drop the subframe)
New parking brake shoes/hardware kit

You may also want to consider doing shifter bushings while you've got the DS out, its only like $25 in parts.

Inspect all of your brake lines too, I had to replace everything for the rears. It was corroded all along the body and pieces flaked off as I removed it. I replaced all the soft hoses too, its very easy to just cut them and pull the subframe. With it out of the way you have excellent access up there to remove the fittings. I had to torch every one of mine to get them off.

$25 for the shifter bushings you say? I was quoted alot more than that. Where did you get the package at?

I got them from blunt. The rear carrier is like $50+ so skip that if yours is Ok; the rest of the stuff is cheap. It's just a bunch of clips, rings, and cups. It's a little weird getting all those mystery parts. Kinda like an erector set.

Yeah I am trying to figure out which ones I need. Never done it before. If anyone has the part numbers i need other than the carrier, please let me know!
