wheel hub nut remwval question

    wheel hub nut remwval question

    So im working on my 1989 325i and im removing the axle shaft but im having a hard time trying to remove the whee hub nut. Does anyone have any suggestions on how i could do it ?could i do it with a impact driver?

    Did you remove the lock plate first? A large breaker bar is the best way, but a decent impact gun will work as well. A breaker bar with the car on the ground is easy though.

        I use a heavy duty breaker bar and the handle from my floor jack as a cheater. Only had that fail once, when I was afraid the 1/2" breaker bar was going to break. Switched to the 3/4" breaker bar and spun that sucker off.
        The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

          beat the metal ring out from infront of the nut then put a really long pipe on the handle of your ratchet and wala its off

            I had to stand on my ratchet/pipe combo lol. I should really buy a big breaker bar.

              +1 on this method but be sure the handle is no higher than 10 or 2 andnthat you push down or you risk levering your car off the jack stands, with less than ideal results
