325ix Steering Rack Question

Hi, I have 1990 325ix in need to steering rack replacement.

My mechanic told me PN# is 3213 9058 992 which seems right, but are 325i and 325e model's steering rack interchangeable for 325ix?

The reason I am asking is I can find refurbished 325i and 325e rack for under $200 but 325ix racks are over 700$.

no the IX rack is not the same mounts on opposite side of subframe and mount differently than a standard 325i rack ,tie rods are different , and i think even internals are different. hence the higher price (ole supply and demand thing)

What is a good price for steering rack replacement labor? How many hours would mechanics take and charge me?

i would think an hour to hour and a half labor if its a complete rack assembly,plus an alignment to set toe
