    Strut options for an iX

Sorry if this subject has been beaten to death. I did a search, but I can't seem to come to any conclusions from the information given.

I'd like to get new struts for my iX and lower it, while I'm at it. It looks like the H&R Sports springs are my choice, but I'm having trouble getting a clear answer on struts.

Ideally, I'd like to get the Bilstein Sports. But it seems the iX is it's own beast and Sports are not available for the fronts. Is this a function of the physical limitations of the car, ie is there something different about the iX that make this impossible? Or can just bolt in a set of Sports and hope for the best.

I know another option is the Koni's. Are these inserts or actual complete struts assemblies. The reason I ask is on WRX's they're inserts, meaning to you to cut apart your existing struts and assemble yourself....yuck!

How about KYB, Tokico, Tein, etc?

Here's the only other thread I could find on the topic:

get konis. You can't use Bilstein HD in the front with H&R sports, you will bottom out (just ask others who have tried). Not sure what you mean about cutting the WRX struts to put them in, but nothing like that is needed on the ix. They are inserts just like Bilsteins, you don't have to cut apart anything to put them in.

No such thing as bilstein sports for the ix, and no you can't just use standard E30 struts.

KYB and Tokico stuff for E30s are garbage, and I'm not sure they make anything for the ix anyway. Even if they do, they certainly aren't designed for lowering.
