what shocks to match my springs

    Hi Guys,

I been doing a lot of searching on what shocks to match my eibach pro kit springs. I know lot of people find it too soft for them and went h&r race/sports. Since pro kit is what I already have, I'm gonna stick with it and spend my money on shocks. I'm thinking of Koni SA or Bilstein Sports but haven't decided yet.

It's for daily and spirited driving. My current shocks are bilstein touring and they giving up on me so they need replacement. I'm looking for more handling on corners so the fender won't rub the tire and will last long.

My wheels/tires are: Alpina 16x7 with 205/50 (20mm spacer installed on the rear wheels)

    What can you suggest?

    Thanks in advance.

The springs and sways are what controls the suspension and thus is the primary factor in handling. The shocks are meant to absorb transients and to prevent oscillation of the springs. To get better handling, you need stiffer springs and sways. Then the shock rates need to match up pretty well with the spring rates.

The Bilstein shocks may have slightly more compression damping than the Koni's, but either will be a good choice with those springs. If using the Koni SA's I'd suggest no more than 1 turn from full soft initially. When the shocks wear to can take another half turn to restore the lost rebound damping.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

+1 For Koni. They do ride a bit nicer, but Bilstein sports are by no means bad shocks. Stick with reputable parts and you can't go wrong for Daily Driver duties.

Thanks a lot! Will look for cheaper between the two and save up for sway bars.
