Hi,
I recently picked up an E30 cab and looking at the records, it does not look like any suspension work was done. The steering isn't tight, so I'm hoping this will help. The car won't see the track, looking for something OEM -- comfortable for cruising around. I have only done basic maintenance, but would like to tackle the suspension system over the course of several weekends or when I find time after work.
I have searched and that has been pretty helpful, but I want to make sure I order everything I need and have all my bases covered before getting the car up on stands - a sanity check if you will. It seems that for a DD, standard rubber bushings are recommended. It looks like there are plenty of kits available that have most of the components needed as well, but I'm having trouble deciding what to buy. Any input is greatly appreciated!
Blunttech has a kit available, but the website is not very descriptive in terms of what is included. I noticed this kit is substantially cheaper than the Stage 1 kit on Pelican Parts. Are they coming with the same things?
Pelican Parts has a Stage 1, 2, and 3 kit; I figure the Stage 1 kit should be sufficient, but my question is for an overhaul, do I need anything in addition to one of these kits? For instance, I am guessing I may need the tie rod kit they sell as well. As an aside, is it cheaper to source all the parts separately?
Is there anything else I should be replacing along with what comes in the Pelican Parts Stage 1 kit? While I have the car up, I plan on replacing the brakes, rotors, refreshing the calipers, and replacing the brake lines. Are there additional recommendations on things that I should just change out at this point if they haven't been changed yet on this car -- things like the starter motor or alternator; are these common wear items?
Thanks!
