Outer tie rod stuck on. Advice needed

    As far as I could figure out, it was because the rubber bit covering the balljoint was taking the impact and not the balljoint itself. We just ripped the rubber off, and belted the bejesus out of the fork and it dropped off.
    would only recommend if you have a new tie rod that definitely fits though.

      It's not really the impact that removes it though. The fork pretty much just drives between two surfaces and pops the joint out. It's pretty much just a wedge you are jamming in there.

      Anyone in aus, if you tear a boot on an otherwise known good ball joint, you can buy replacement Tie rod end boots for VT commodores. They fit perfectly and come with a spring clip to hold it in place. Few bucks each vs having to buy a new joint (and wait for it to arrive).

        Oh, awesome. I'll remember that for next time.
        I got mine for like $35 posted, here in a couple of days. I thought that was pretty reasonable.
