    GC and Camber plate settings

Finally got the suspension work done late last night.

I set the front adjusters at about halfway between full up and full down. It still sits pretty darn low. The camber plates are set with a fair amount of negative camber.

The rears adjusters are set at full up. I am thinking of lowering them a little.

I have the Driving School this weekend and have no intention of playing with the settings while there - I am still learning too much basic stuff to be in a position to do that.

but, I am looking for suggestions on where I should set the adjusters and camber plates for the weekend.

    Anyone???

I'd get it on an alignment rack and go for max camber and caster.

I wouldn't go to max, most of the local Pro3 guys run from -2.5 to -3.5 so I would shoot for somewhere around there. The rest you should do with tire pressures, if you get too much camber you will lose some braking ability.

-2.5 camber is fine Dave. We just set up an e30 m3 at work at -2.5 in front because we couldnt get more lol. Trust me, you'll be fine with -2.5. Although, what are you going to do about toe settings? Are you getting it aligned at a shop?

I'm curiose how accurant the markings are on the GC plates. I''ve got a pair of Ireland race plates to go onto my car tommorow, and purchased a camber guage, as I know the camber angles change for the different ride heights so I don't see how the GC marks can be accurate.

I need to get on an alignment rack after my new rear perches get here.

Just dial your camber in and have some suspension travel in front.

Will, i'm gonna aim as close to -3* up front and -2* in the back as possible, with zero toe front and zero or 1/16 total toe-in at the back.

I'll be there this time so someone can tell Chris I got the FUH RAZE adjustables in the rear. (since you forgot)

Go with zero toe and as much -ve camber as u can get infront.

Do not run with the rear adjusters all the way up, you will have all the grip in front and make oversteer your middle name.

I am speaking from experience here, my first auto-x of the season I was late and tired and didn't lower the rear as I had just swapped from 17s to 15s that same morning in the rain. My 318iS oversteered way too much and your car will do the same as well if not worse depending on your driving style. At the second auto-x the car was much better behaved after I lowered the rear.

My front adjusters are as low as they can be without a modified perch.
I can barely squeeze my index finger under the rear adjuster and the car is PERFECTLY balanced.

The last time my car was on the alignment rack with 17s, this is what my print out read. I cannot emphasize on the feel of a PROPERLY ALIGNED CAR and how it makes the whole driving experience much better. Especially with new tie rod ends in your case you want to get it done asap.

Thats all they got there. You've been there before! Come on! And I know that on Simon Hunter's car, I believe he had under -3.0 in front. I think it was around -2.5. And he won J-stock last year.

I just got back from a little test drive/brake pad bedding run. I had a devil of a time fixing the steering column ( another story altogether).

Oversteer city as you said it would be. I'll lower them tomorrow.

News flash - if this was my daily, I'd have to report that 475f/650r is not a pleasant streetable setup.

Ditto on the rears, I'm halfway threw the coilover conversion in my car, and have just the rears in, with the stiffer springs back there, and soft up front the rear end likes to swing around way to easy(cuaght me off guard the first time). Since I got my mom's E38 finished I'll be installing my fronts finally tommorow. Just how bad are your rates for the street? I have 350/450 but have been thinking of going 450/550
