    e36 m3 rack swap leaking

    Hi all

So i installed a used e36 m3 rack and an e30 pump in my car. Since installing everything the entire thing leaks, and its pretty frustrating having to keep filling it. The rack itself does not leak, and prior to install it was not leaking. My suspicion is the lines, or the washers. The lines are used and the washers are all old.

My question is, are the e36 m3 rack p/s lines different sizes? Or are the e30 fitting sizes the same?

Also, would if help to get new washers? Or are washers washers, and don't bother with them? Its going down about a half inch in the reservoir per every other day. Pump seems to not be leaking, and rack doesn't seem to be leaking so thats what leads me to be suspicious of the lines or the washers.

    thanks!

Heat the crush washers to red hot before install and they can be reused. Especially if they are copper. That may help you a bit with the leaks but it sounds like you just need to replace most of the hoses in the system.

You are supposed to change the crush washers when you open the system. They are pennies each new

You can anneal copper to soften it but those crush washers tend to get deformed so, as was said, they are cheap and this does not work with aluminum. If you peeled back the rack boots to confirm its dry then any other leaks should be visible

Yea that explains it, i wasn't aware that the washers were crush and 1 time use, i will get all new washers, I have noticed the drip originating from the connections near the bolt.

          Thanks guys

What sizes are appropriate for the e36 rack? are the diameter for the washers the same or do i have to get e36 m3 specific?

          scratch that, i found it
