I bought an ST lowering kit for my e30 and was putting it in today and ran into a problem.. My car is a 325i vert 1990 and I measured it and it has 51mm struts. So I'm putting them in and I can't get the oem strut insert nut back on. The top of the ST insert is larger than the oem and ST didn't supply another insert nut. If I put the car together without the nut on, the whole thing looks like it would be unsafe. Any know what I can do? Or has used the ST kit? I really need help, thanks

Here are some pictures. As you can see the collar nut doesn't fit over the black ST insert.
Here's the orange one threading in
Here's the black on not threading in as the body is to big
Is there supposed to be a new collar with the kit? It can I simply just not use a collar? Do I have a 51mm strut or would this be considered a 45mm? Since the oem shocks have that groove?

I would call st suspension directly. What came with the shocks? Just springs?Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Yeah just springs. I don't really feel like going through the hassle of shipping everything back as I'd loose money so I'm planning to have the strut inserts lathed down a few mm's so the threaded gland but fits over the insert. Might not be the safest but it's the only thing I can think of unless I just weld the insert in or weld a washer on top
