    E36 M3 inserts in E30 struts?

I have looked everywhere and cannot find an answer to this question, theres a guy on CL selling BNIB Koni Yellow E36 M3 strut inserts and i was going to pick em up for my car if i knew they fit. I cant find what the E36 strut housing diameters are, so im not sure.

    Thanks

They mount differently. They have a bolt that holds them in place from below. But that being said you might be able to modify them to work.

Would it be possible to just cut the bolt off and use the collar nut to hold the insert in?

Not sure what the diameter is, honestly it would be cheaper to get Koni inserts for an e30 vs hacking these to install them

E30 Konis are ~$650, these fronts are $225

I'd wait and get the right part. They are going to be valved for the weight and suspension geometry of an E36, you're better off with e30 specific stuff unless you are going to have them revalved for this application.
Drive it hard. Maintain it well.

              I'm wondering the same
I'm assuming if the od and the length are the same the only other problem might be the strut rod that goes through the locking collar

What about the people who do the 5 lug conversion, I doubt they get then revalved

Bav auto which tends to be higher has them for 194 each fronts. You could buy them and then resell them making a bit of profit is an option.

5 lug conversions like this have greater issues.
