    Megan Coilover Rear Spring Rate

Alright, so me and a friend were going through the idea of changing out my rear springs because I've had the issue of the car pushing in corners. This issue is caused by Megan Coils being an 8kg spring rate (448 lbs/in) front and rear and with BMW suspension they have to be staggered. So I'm wondering if there's a common spring rate/spring swap people do for Megan rear springs. We are also wondering if you could just order a barrel spring like the front and put them in E30 rears? As in order an Eibach spring that's the same dimensions as the Megan Spring now but barrel? I could do 650 lb/in, 6" tall by 2.25" diameter spring and plop it the same spot on the adjuster and rear trailing arm.

Don't get anything higher than a 5" spring in the rear.
2.25" ID is what E30's take in the rear for coilovers, yes - though a 2.5" ID can be used.

480/650 is stiffer, but proportional to what H&R Race springs would be. I'd think it's fine.
Raise your car a little in the front as well if you're pushing hard.

Thank you for the quick reply! As for the numbers I threw out they were just random shit, just so people could get an idea as to what I'm trying to convey here. So if I went and measured up my spring for the rear that Megan gave me and got the same ID and height but in barrel and a higher spring rate, it would be compatible?

          Found one thing

Free Shipping - Eibach Coilover Springs with qualifying orders of $109. Shop Coilover Springs at Summit Racing.

$65 dollars a spring is a lot though. I said 6" length because megan racing says the rear damper specs are; R: 150mm stroke; 250mm length; 44R01 valving code.

I would be looking to match the stroke with the length of the spring, right? 150mm comes out to ~5.9 inches.

No because your spring is always (or should always) stop the full stroke of the shock.
I'm running a 4" rear spring and never bottom out.

            Try looking at Hypercoil.

that's what GC uses for springs. i'm running 415/625 springs in and they feel very soft. if i want gonna slam my car id go stiffer. like 500/750 range.

Hmm, I don't think being really slammed is what I want right now, just a well handling car.
