    Get real - virtually!

Forget damper travel. The damper's range of movement exceeds the spring's length of compression. In the real world of sedans a lot of theory goes out the window. Polar moment says add weight inside the wheelbase yet a sedan works better with 100# in the far right rear.
Questions: Where does the gain from a lower center of gravity start being offset by the "screwed up" geometry? What is the ideal ride height? What is the ideal amount of body roll?
If body roll is decreased, the suspension changes in cornering are decreased.
A serious chassis tuner that's starting to ask questions like this one should get a suspension software program that allows you to turn the wheels and roll the chassis.
I'm just curious but don't a lot of the responses to this thread imply knowing where the center of gravity is? Has anyone calculated the center of gravity of an E30 from front to rear?

There are no "right answer" to all these questions being asked... everything is a compromise... but its better "know" whats happening when you do things to your car than to just be told "being x.xx" lower is the bestest"... you dont need to know the exact location of your roll center or center of gravity to understand what is happening to your car when you lower it or change the suspension in some way... the best anyone car do is to read all this to get an understanding of what does what and why and why you want/dont want it to do that...then make a judgment call based on how you like your car set up

ive also noticed that soem of the things said in this thred are flat out wrong if that makes any difference

If you guys are really that bent on changing the roll couple, get longer ball joints at the struts. Voila. Your geometry is cured.
