Shortening Bilstein Sports

Planning on shortening my rwd bilstein sports for coilovers.
After taking the struts apart to cut the bumstops, it looks like it would be pretty easy to cut 2 inches out of the body, and another 2 inches out of the of the piston and rethread. Seeing as I already have them it would be cheaper than buying a whole new set.

While it may be possible, many of us don't have tools that can do that...
