    turner j stock experience

whenever the car is raised the front springs get unseated. is this true for all those running j stock suspension? You need to make sure the springs are seated properly when lowering the car.

Are you running the turner valved bilsteins? They're a phyiscally shorter shock than the Bilstein sports from what I've notice, so with those torqued in, I'm not getting any shift with the front springs.

Swing wild, brake later, don't apologize.

yes i'm running the revalved turner bilsteins. also the rear springs are almost binding in the middle when the car is at rest. besides those the ride is great and no problems at all.

I don't run j stocks but my springs have to be positioned
before lowering the car back down, they are fine after you put
load back on them, normal for short springs.

My IE3's look the same in the rear. I hear that they are designed to work this way...with the ends (top and bottom) of the spring compressing into the "barrel", giving it limited travel.

Although it seems to work, I am unimpressed by the design. In my world, coil bind can never be a good thing.

IE3's *were* the only spring that I have seen bind up like that. I guess J-stocks (and possibly H&R race) also bind.

                  that's comforting to know.

i called turner yesterday and talked to drew. he said it shouldn't be and asked me to send pics. let's see what they say.

this is the response I got from Turner and they are normal.

                    100% normal, George.
These are called "Dead Coils" and are there only to take up space so the springs do not come out when the suspension is unloaded.

                    From H&R's website (www.hrsprings.com):

Dead or Inactive Coils: Coils, which are in contact with adjacent coils at loaded height. Inactive coils do nothing but give the spring enough free length to stay tight in the spring perches at full rebound.
