GC coilover kit with HR race springs?

I'm doing some research about coilovers and I stumbled upon this. Is there an option to go with race springs? Is this kit stable? Once you select a spring brand can you ever change it?

    seems pretty freakin sweet!

What exactly do you mean by "race springs"?

HR race springs, I just emailed GC but it seems like they would work with any spring, and GC would make the kit for those springs? Then I would just have to rebuild the front struts with the inserts right?

Race Springs refer to barrel springs. They are a linear spring rate, and not progressive like OEM rear springs.

No, they won't work with H&R Race. The adjusters only work with linear rate 2.5" springs. H&R Race are stock diameter springs.

The kit you linked to includes new springs.

Are those springs bad for performance? Is Linear bad? What spring rate would I choose if I was mostly caring for performance? Like 7/10 performance 3/10 for comfort?

Thanks guys! I'm going to research spring rates now too but if you know a good setup I really appreciate it =)

Almost all coilover springs you'll see for e30s are linear rates. It just won't be as soft over small bumps.

I'm running 450f/650R with the GE group buy kit that Nigel put together a few years back. Very similar to that GC conversion kit.

This, progressive "stock-style" rear springs allow the spring rate to be softer, and when it loads up, stiffer. While the positives are that the car will be nicer when driven slowly, it is more unpredictable when tracking or hard driving.

The linear rate "race" barrel springs have a constant spring rate no matter how much you load them up.

Sounds good! What is the difference between these and coils then? With coils you can do dampening and such?

These are just the springs/perches/adjusters from their full coilover kit. They essentially are coilovers. You just don't get the konis (stock length or short), or camber plates.

yes, he asked what the difference was between progressive spring designs and linear barrel designs.

I figured it out and it wasn't hard lol. Thanks for the help! Now I need to figure out the best spring rate to go with for a mostly street car..

Talk to GC. They are the experts on this and can help you get exactly what you want.

Also, SEARCH. Lots of discussion on this.

I'm searching, trying to decide whether or not to just send them the spring rates of the race springs.
