    Full coilover rear?

I have a 1990 318i fully stock suspension, moving to coilovers as I'm running bigger tires and just want to go a bit lower/ have firmer suspension.

Whilst looking for coilovers I've noticed that you can get packages with full coilovers in the front and rear or full coilovers in the front and separate shock and spring in the rear, what are the pros and cons of each solution?

(Separate shock and spring in rear): bit.ly/1W19Tc8
(Shock and spring in one): bit.ly/1YjwG4x

Car is just used on street, no drifting or track use.

Any help would be great, thanks.

I don't have any direct experience with them but I've heard that you'd need to reinforce the shock towers and shock mounts on the trailing arms as neither of those points were designed to have the whole weight of the car on them

So bigger tires and a coil will be around the shock will equal less space.

OK thanks, sounds like its easier to go with separate shock and spring.

        Thanks for the help :)

This guy has it spot on. Doing a true coilover in the rear pretty much requires a complete redesign of the rear suspension. It would be cool, but very expensive and hard.
