Do I need the e36 steering rack cooling loop?

Who that has converted to an e36 rack has kept the cooling loop on the return line?

Do I need it on my e30?

    I guess not.

I bent the E30 lines over so they attached to the E36 rack. You have to buy an E36 line to get the cooling coil. At least it's not part of the 318is line.

      Two issues:

For those that aren't familiar some or the e36's came with a cooling loop on the power steering low pressure return line. It looks like a trombone and makes a few loops around the bottom of the rack before returning the fluid to the resevoir. I think the M3's and 328's have them. I got a rack from a 328 and it has the cooling loop still attached. To use or not to use??

The two issues are 1) will it fit and 2) do I even need it.

So, has anybody installed an e36 rack WITH the cooling loop?

Do I need the cooling loop? The e30's never came with it from the factory and as far as I know I've never had a problem, but I don't have a "power steering fluid temp gauge" , either.

          Thanks!

Now I don't have to worry about it, I'll go without.

NP, I tried to make it fit, it's too big. I don't think it hurts anything to be honest.
