Yeah, there for a reason on the Z3. The design of the Bimmerworld Lifetime units are such that the Z3 plates aren't needed. They are intentionally made stronger in that area.

Then why do IE include reinforcement plates with theirs? They are also made very well and are stronger.

The reinforcement plates are not needed. You'll be fine without them.

I was told the sheet metal coudl tear without the reinforcement plates, but I have a cabrio, maybe its different

If you're using stock BMW RSMs, you can probably get away without using them, but they are cheap insurance. And tearing the shock mounts out of your unibody will ruin your day...

I would imagine that would be the other way around? If you had stock BMW RSM’s, you probability should get the reinforcement plates since OEM mounts are more prone to failure than some beefy after market set.

anyways, I'm starting to hear some noises coming from the rear every time I go over speed bumps and such. If my mounts are blown out, are my rear shocks getting worn out any faster?

The IE and other beefier RSMs are much stronger but would also put more force on the shock tower since some of them are urethane. That's how I see it anyways.

With the E46 ones, if enough force is exerted, the bushing will pop right through the shock mount, that's what happened to the E46 one I had.

With the IE ones, this would not happen, rather, the whole mount would rip right through the tower if I hit anything with that much force.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd just get the plates, they're cheap.

The reinforcement plates don't reinforce the shock mount, they reinforce the sheet metal of the body.

Koni Top Adjustable RSM's?

I've been told that the turnermotorsports repair shop series with lifetime warranty are the best.- $47 shipped

Are these similar/the same as other heavy duty RSM's?

I'm getting Top adjust Koni's all the way around. Rumor has it only certain RSM's will work with them due to the top adjust require a bigger hole than normal. Does anyone know which RSM's will work with these? I heard turner does, any others?
