    The Long Running Debate.

    It always seems to be a big discussion on whether Bilstein HD's or KYB's GR-2's are the route to go.

    I have Vogtland lowering springs for my car and want to get pretty capable at autocross with decent longevity.

    My friend keeps telling me if I get GR2's that the Vogtland spring rate will make them go out in under 6 months. Is this true, should I stick with HD's or is there a better way to go about it?

    Why are you considdering Bilstein HDs? With any lowering springs, you should be running sport shocks such as Bilstein Sports, or Konis.

      I agree, HD's were not made for lowering springs, your just asking to buy a new pair in the near future.

      As for Bilsteins or KYB?

          Bilsteins it is.

          Anyone know the Vogtland spring rates. I think it was like 215#'s up front and 335#'s in the rear.

              A bit stiffer than h&R Sports i remember. They also lower more.

              Stock M3 -> 140/250 (others say 100,300?)
              Dinan Sport -> 172/300
              H&R Race -> 315/570
              H&R Sport -> 185/380
              H&R Sport -> 200/285 (29664)
              Eibach Pro-kit -> 102/277
              Eibach Race -> 160/445
              Vogtland: 225/360
              Ireland Stage 3 -> 315/570

                I thought he was talking about dampers (shocks)
                These look like spring rates for springs?

                    KYB= Keep Your Bilstiens

                    the joke exists for a reason...

                    then the other question is who compares Bilstien HDs to KYB? Also like mentioned if you are running lowering springs, you have to get the sport dampers as the HDs are too long. Either bilstiens or Konis should work on a "budget".

                        lol, KYBs are shit.

                        You should consider moving to better springs also, like H&Rs, H&R race (for auto X) IE stage IIIs or Suspension Techniques.
