Why are my H&R Race springs higher then H&R Sports?

YOU DIDN'T WIN. I passed you right before the line by going through pit lane. I had 3 ton jack stands under my car for maximus tractionz!!!!i!!!
OK. Seriously though, does anyone know why my Race springs are not as low as they should be? It's been a decent amount of time, with some HARD driving. Stock spring pads, new everything (control arms/bushings, mounts, etc...)Comment

I run HR race......Im a bit lower than most sports I line up to at track events.......I even added thicker rear sprg pads to avoid the droopy look.

The colors don't matter. I've seen blue, gray, red, and they've been OE, sports, race, - nothing correlates.
The front springs say "EBS BMW 3/1" as far as I remember. They are red, but so are my sports. I can feel and see the coil spacing is not as big as on my sports. My race springs actually fit in my strut assembly loosely, I had to hold the spring in place as I tightened the bolt to line it up with the spring pad and perch. They feel a lot stiffer, but my 325e's suspension has high miles (not sure if that should really make it "softer").
I'd say the vehicle is now dead even height with my 325e on sports, which is a good 100 lbs heavier. I've done a lot of aggressive driving, 3 autoX's, a lot of highway driving, etc... I'm confident they will not go any lower.
Not that I'm disappointed, the car performs amazing, and I don't have to drive like a grandma over speed bumps. But I wouldn't mind if it was a little lower.Comment

Justin, did you install the HR sports on your 325e yourself? Do you know if the spring pads were left in the assembly when it was reassembled? bc if there are no spring pads on the 325e, that could explain it, bc we left the spring pads in on the red 325is....Recent Rebranding!!

Yes, that car has spring pads. I'm not even necessarily comparing my two cars, I'm comparing my 325is to what it SHOULD look like. It looks higher then any other early e30's I've seen with race springs, despite the actual and advertised drop.
Considering the advertised drop of 1.6" and the reduced weight of the car, they are right where they should be. But that means that everyone else with this setup is sitting lower then they should be...Comment

Did you buy the springs new or used ? The part number for race springs on the H&R box is 50404-88 and the numbers on the front springs are EBS-BMW 3/1(f) and the rear springs are RG 701 HA.10 these are the numbers on my brand new set still waiting to go onto car. The only way to get the race springs for an e30 is to order them for a e30 M3 as H&R do not list a race spring in their catalog for any e30 325 or 318 at all only available in sports for those fitmentsComment
