It's hard to say without knowing the condition of your other suspension pieces, but I would count on possibly doing the control arms if the ball joints are getting worn or if the dust boots are torn, possibly the control arm bushings, sway bar links... Rear shock mounts are a good thing to do if you've got everything out since they are notoriously weak in the E30s.

damn!! haha. thats a long list. im just thinking about replacing a few things. Of course the springs but maybe a few other things such as control arms, bushings, etc. im not trying to make a track car. just wondering what gets warn the quickest on a 16 year old car. i was thinking about doing control arms and control arm bushings. Has anyone used or heard about the treehouse bushings?? how are they compared to the upgrade control arm bushings??

That list is pretty much what your looking for, these are the parts that get worn on a 16 year old car. This is by no means race car parts. Other than the shocks and springs these are OEM parts. I would replace all of this just to make the car safe for the road.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but does anyone know if these part #s are pretty much standard on all e30s or do I have to look them all up for my 86 es?

Most all parts are standard across the board as far as the ones he lists.
