    Ground Control on my e30

We just received our Ground Control suspension for our iS. Does anyone have any pictures of the set set during and after the install? The installation directions are sketchy and the install for the back end is puzzling right now.

dont even worry about it....they just sit in there....they look very unsafe but thats how they go just make sure you use the rubber top of the old spring from the top....

what spring rates can you get with the GC's?

They need to be shortened I know that. Beyond that I'm not sure. I've not done it yet. But I've been researching my available avenues awhile now.

Some shops bend them to increase camber which is total BS, IMO. That's what camber/caster plates are for. And I can't be convinced to the accuracy or integrety of the bends/parts bent.

Others are welding mounting tabs onto the struts to add M3 style end links......Not sure what the advantage is here except with longer links the anti-sway bar adjustments would be more accurate. Or at least more range of adjustment. With the short stock type links the bar will be less sensitive to adjustments.

Ground Control makes a "tie rod kit" that replaces the tie rods with rod end or heim joints. A tapered stud that matches the tie rod end taper is included and then spacers can be added to adjust bump steer......A neet idea. And something in my future. But I don't know how much I would recommend this to a street car....

Thats about all there is really.

Beyond these things I'm also going to look into building a custom roll center spacer. To use standard E30 struts, and space the strut further away from the control arm.....

you dont even need another rubber spring pad. just use exactly what the GC kit gives you, the white poly-like bushing.

you dont know what the advantage is? i thought you knew what you were talking about in the SM thread. not like the topics are directly related but knowledge of changing placement of the sway bar linkage is an example of common knowledge with suspension geometry. maybe you dont hear the opposing arguments for good reason :p

uh huh. care to describe how this will work safely?

You explain it to me then. Like I said other than a longer link, making the swaybar more sensitive to adjustment I can't see any.

Assuming non adj bar, and the same link i.e. heim/heim, there really isn't any difference.
