THR CAB's

I've have THR CABs on my car for almost 2.5 years now - driven well over 30,000 miles with them - and they remain. Originally, the bushing material caused pretty bad popping noises - but he sent me free replacements back in 05. Since then - they are solid as a rock and make no noise. I've driven the miles I've stated on cross country trips, backroads - you name it, I've driven it. It's my only car, and it goes everywhere (except off road of course)

I love them, and don't regret spending the extra money on them one bit.

Of course, back when I tried to get rid of the popping noise, I sanded the paint off of my control arm, which helped, but now they're all rusty. LOL BUT - that's not the bushing, just my control arm.

WELL WORTH IT - in my honest opinion. :)

Is a new CAB carrier a necessity?

Just thinking that if its a good idea, than the THR becomes a much more viable option. When you consider I have no hydraulic press and things like that.

Maybe I will just pony up for them.

That THR busings outlast comparable poly/delrin CAB's.

Not trying to be a cock about things, but I want to KNOW they are worth the increase in price, not just internet hearsay.

Just think in terms of material. The delrin and urethane bushings are simply hard ass plastics that, even thought very little, move and fatigue with chassis movement. The treehouse bushings are basically all metal with a plastic insert that doesn't hardly move as much as urethane and delrin. So really I have no hard facts for it but I just used common sense.

I just installed a set of AKG's 75D m3 offset bushings on my e30 a couple days ago. It totally eliminated the shimmy i had and i love the fact that i can "feel" the road more, espically @ higher speeds. I was debating weather to get the THR cabs or the AKG's and i'm happy i went with the AKGs.

BTW you dont NEEED the THR cabs for a 24v swap unless you're trying fitting the euro s50 headers. Ebay headers clear the stock lolipops np.

The AKG rear control arm brackets have a bearing.



The Treehouse units have no moving parts so it seems the feel would be stiffer.



I'd also like to hear any first hand experience on the comparison because I tore apart my CABs at my last event. Time to upgrade.

Yes, bearings are METAL balls. So why would you think hard plastic would stiffer?

The direct benefits in comparison to the above stated parts is the correction of steering shimmy and simply the durability of the treehouse bushings. They last a lot longer than a lot of other bushings.

So are they required for a DOHC swap? Or could regular M3 offset busings fit around the exhaust?

There are a few things they improve. First they eliminate almost all steering shimmy at higher speeds. They improve caster for more control at higher speeds. They are highly durable because they really don't move or fatigue because of their size. And lastly, they do clear m5x and s5x exhausts. Not to mention, they look bad ass.

i love mine, my other friend loves his, my other friend did not like his. You WILL feel the road more, i think in a good way. They both DD their cars and i used to DD mine and still liked them. If i ever make car just to DD, it will not have them. I would love to drive a car with the AKG ones, i have no info on them.

Yeah, I read that, is that the only advantage? If so, doesn't seem to be worth it unless you are doing the motor swap.

What are the advantage of this design over say AKG's?

Also, should I go ahead and get the offset control arm bushings?
