How much damage could this do?

Just saw this on IE, thought I'd let people think about it.

Wouldn't this destroy rear shock towers? With or without brace or supports?
Isn't putting that kind of weight on the shock, sorta dangerous?

Or is this like a helper spring sort of deal that would require to have regular springs as well?

    Pitch in please.

Link just sends you to the storefront...

EDIT: if this is there rear coilover adjuster, all that does is take the place of the existing spring. The adjuster sits over the bottom nub on the control arm and the upper perch takes the place of the upper spring hat.

Ah, actually this is suppose to sit over the shock, here's the description:

E30 Rear Coil Over Kit - This is a real coil over that puts the spring on the shock. These threaded sleeves slip over the rear shocks. An inner lip prevents the sleeve from sliding down the shock. There is 3" of adjustment. These are designed to use a 1 7/8" ID spring. Springs are not included. Springs generally run about $50 each. The kit includes 2 sets of threaded sleeves, upper and lower spring perches.
wish i could make the link work, it's 6th item in e30 suspension catalog.

Hmm, I didn't see that before. I thought it was the normal "fake" coilover setup with smaller diameter springs. That really doesn't seem like a great idea and the quality looks like crap, but I don't think that the rear towers are really that weak. With a GOOD strut brace with vertical and horizontal (compression, tension, and torsional) mounts, they would be fine. The issue is that the shock is taking the entire force of the spring, which it obviously isn't designed to do. That is what strut housings are for. Also, the bottom mount is single-shear (for comparison, something with a u-bracket like the swaybar-to-trailing arm mounts are double shear) and isn't made to take the stress.
