    Name that suspension...

I was just curious to see if anyone recognized this suspension. I just purchased this 325i and of course the PO had no record of what was on the vehicle. I can see that the shocks are Bilstein, but I have no idea what springs they are. Thanks in advance!

For all that I've seen, IE3s have always been black springs.

I would venture to say Racing Dynamics. But I'm not completely sure.

What can you tell me about RD springs? Are they worth anything? This is probably just a preference thing though, isn't it? Thanks again for your help!

They are just one of those tuner springs, such as Alpina, AC Schnitzer, etc.

It's tough finding information on them as to lowering height (advertised) and spring rates. Usually springs like that are valued the same as any other popular spring ($100-200 based on condition)

I guess I just meant would it be worth investing in something else, like the H&R springs or something like that. They seem awful stiff for an everyday car. Danke schoen...

Might be more hassle than the difference is worth. You might want to try H&R Sport.

I take it that the H&R Sport springs are a little comfortable for an everyday car? I don't mind the current set-up but it's a little too stiff and not so forgiving with the smallest of bumps in the road. I defintiely don't mind it when I'm taking curves, but when the car manages to find bumps in the road, it's not as nice.

It's always a compromise. The H&R Sports are just a very small drop, so in your case, it'll probably raise the car some. Its a lot softer spring rate too, so it'll cope with the bumps a lot better.

I would agree that those springs are Racing Dynamics. A buddy of mine has some and they look exactly like yours...

Thanks for the help all, I think I may end up sticking with what I've got. I'm getting more used to the everyday stiff ride and playing dodge the pothole isn't so bad.

Yep those are early racing dynamics, I used to have some on my 85 before going coilovers. The later model knock off racing dynamic springs are blue, supposedly the green ones are the ones to have. I really like mine when I had them.
