    Koni Part Numbers

Trying to order my Koni's tonight but am a bit confuzzled as to which ones to order.

    Koni website says: 8641 1210Sport
But others say: 8641 1021Sport is the 51mm strut which is what I believe the iS has....

Don't want to order the wrong ones and have to send them back to the states.

Ordering front and back so part numbers for both would be great. Is for a 1990 318is

    Cheers
    Jack

I actually ordered the 1210 and they don't work man.

It has to be 1021 sport...I'm talking to my friend (vendor) to get an exchange.

Cool beans, that's what I wanted to hear! :D

I'll get them ordered then; suspension overhaul is taking shape. :)
And 80 2641Sport is the correct one for the rear I take it.

      Thanks man.

I tried 8641-1210 fronts in m20 housings (88' model year), and they don't work. The drop in nicely until the last inch, then stop early.

Cool, and does anyone know the correct rear part number? I'm guessing it's either 80-2641 or 26-1196...

1210= large diameter strut tube 4cyl.

1021= large diameter strut tube 6cyl.

If your car has Bilsteins or OE Bilsteins, you'll need new gland nuts.

i too hate conflicting info, i got pissed off at r3v when i was buying my shocks..they kept saying corrado, corrado G60 but ofcouse nooo. so:

1021 also has 9" shaft. no good. Go to ground control and buy their 8641-xxxxspgc (i think its also 1021 special order ground control). just about the same price if not cheaper than a lot of people out there.

for the rear you should consider the top atjustable ones about $20 more per strut but worth every penny.
                No more e30s for me.

View this for some info with attention to the part number(s) for use when lowering.

Yeah, I've been talking to a rep for Koni, and the 1210 is a shorter total length shock, to prevent the spring from falling out its perch if you got race springs. Supposedly the compression dampening is 30% firmer with the 1210 too. I have to wait for the engineers to answer questions about the actual measurement differences between the 1210's and the 1021's, and what is actually going to fit. I'm blown, and don't really have the time for this kind of crap.

Could you clarify the gland nut issue? I had OE Bilsteins and the gland nut won't thread with the 1021 Konis.
When you say "new gland nut" what do you mean? Is it an OEM part or a Koni part?

                        Thanks!

The OE doesn't fit over the Koni. My car had the factory Bilstein sport suspension package.
Are you saying there's a different OE gland nut for the "regular" struts that will work?

                            Thanks!

Yes, if your car came w/ billy from factory, you will need the non sport package gland nut. you can find the right part number on realoem.com, they list both.
