    anyone here use D2 coilovers?

Ok well I've gone back and forth on coilover options several times. Has anyone here actually run them? D2 are known pretty well in the drift community but again, I have yet to see them on an E30. I'm getting product details and the kit seems very similar to the GC kit but the shocks have 36 points of adjustability and are cheaper than the GC kit. The GC kit being $1400 (http://www.ground-control-store.com/...p/II=740/CA=98).

Generic product details for D2s can be found here: http://urbanimport.com/suspension_d2...g_sport_rs.htm
Yes the price says $1800 but thats MSRP (same MSRP as the GC kit). The actual price won't be that high.

Also, custom springs are $50 a SET.

Anyway, I might be shoving these things on my car soon and am in talks with a local distributor to do a group buy. I'm still figuring pricing out but I'm thinking it'll be <= $1000 for the kit

Pix of the actual E30 kit:

Theres people here rocking D2s on their e30s. Ive rode in them once. Not enough times to tell how I liked it though.

I know the spring rates are fairly soft. Something in the 300s or 400s front and back.

I've got a friend who is a rep for them. They've got some nice products from what I've seen. Good compromise street/track setup in my eyes. Price is nice too.

Rates that come with the kit are 6k/6.5k... which IMO are horrible for E30s. Its like having HR race springs up front but stockies in the back.

I'm ordering 10k front 16k rear for starters. I'm tired of body roll so I'm going stiffer than someone on viagra.

6k wouldn't move at all and 16k you could drive a freight train over without them flexing

6k compresses like mad when I'm on the track. 16k is also a rear spring rate. note that we have trailing arm suspensions and the spring isn't directly mounted over the shock. The actual effective spring rate will be near 8 (more like 9 but we'll see)

No no. I'm going by kg/mm not lb/in. HR race springs are 300lb front and 500lb rear. which is roughly 6k front and 10k rear (very roughly). So 6k for the stock D2s are like the fronts of HR race.

                        6 kg/mm = 335.98 lb/in

yea so I talked to the manufacturer and they don't make spring rates I want. or even close to them for that matter. If I converted the rear to full coil over and got a weld on front kit I could get a bunch of rates but I don't trust my welding that well.
