    Ground Control "track kit"

I know a guy who is selling a "track/school kit" from Ground Control. I haven't seen the kit nor has he given me any specs yet. Not sure he knows the spec actually, so I need to do some research before I buy.

Apparently it's a strut/shock kit with adjusters for height. Vintage 5-6+ years old.

Anyone, or maybe even the guy from Ground Control, know what this kit might be?

I know this is a shot in the dark, but I figured I'd ask.

Waiting for the guy to get back to me with pictures, specs, anything, but I wanted to be prepared to buy.

    Thanks!

What do you mean as in 'what it might be?' It should include at least rear konis and adjusters. For the front I believe it comes with shortened konis, perches, adjusters, and camber plates. Spring rates are user-specified. I don't think it came with the strut housing, but I'm not sure. Check their website; I'm pretty sure everything is listed there.

doesn't come with housings but for extra $$ you can send your housings to them for modification if you want to shorten them.

The kit is older so I'm not sure if what he's got is equivalent to what GC sells now. Or are you saying this is the only kit they've ever offered? From the sound of his description it sounded like one of those lower end Bilstein or H&R kits I always see around.

By eibach race springs, he means the 60mm/2.5" coilover springs. I believe the design of the camber plates has changed, but that should be the only major difference iirc.

Why don't you call GC and tell them what you told us. They would probably know what they used to sell better then anyone...

It's kind of hard to say that without knowing what the spring rates are, and what he's looking for.

I'm going to wait until I actually see the parts before I call Ground Control. I have no part numbers, colors, etc. to even reference just yet. I was definitely going to call them after I got some hard facts about what it is he's selling.

I pinged Hellabad to see if he has any comments...

PM replied. Its a good idea to double check.

It could be a great deal, but some secondhand kits have the expensive bits missing, which can really add up when you try to finish the job. There are also fakes out there.

                              Ok...Finally got pictures.

The bad part is the last picture. Looks like the strut is damaged. He seemed sure it would still work since he said "it's not where the piston is", however, I have my doubts. There are Koni's right?

No camber plates, so I'd have to get my own, which is ok since I was going to get a set of GC plates anyway. No rear shock mounts, which is normally in the kit.

The only thing I'm not sure of is all those other "spacers", etc. that may be missing. Also, do I have to get strut tubes modified? I can't tell if these are 2.5" springs or not. I guess they must be.

He didn't mention spring rates, so I have to call him for the part numbers.
