Not immediately, but it will wear them out faster.
The spring rate will increase, but not by much. If you lookup the equation for calculating the spring constant, you can do the math and see how much additional rate you get. The increase in rate isn't going to offset the fact that you're riding 1.5-2 inches lower and are that much closer to bottoming out the shocks.
You're much better off getting a cheap set of drop springs that will give you that exact drop, plus be stiff enough to prevent bottoming out in most circumstances. Cutting OEM springs is really a last resort, like in the case of the Fox where no drop springs are available (nice car BTW, my dad used to have one the same color when I was really young...he traded it in for this BMW which is now mine :D )
