    What springs do I have?

I recently installed what I believe to be Racing Dynamic 'Blues' on my 318is. The springs exchanged hands twice, and were originally ordered for a '90 325iC. They are bright blue in color, say Racing Dynamics on them, but not in RD's font; instead standard Arial font.

The part number on the front spring reads: 196 10 30 002. There is no number on the rear springs, they just say 'Racing Dynamics.'

Are these RD Blues? If so, what model/year are they for? Or are these rebadged H&R Sports? (I have a suspicious feeling they are)

If anyone has any info on RD parts, and could help in anyway, I'd appreciate it.

I love the springs, I'd just like to know what they are. :P

Aren't all RD springs rebadged H&R Sports anyways?

The RD blues with the plain font are from Electrodyne and aren't the real Racing Dynamics/RD Sport springs per se. The "real" RD springs either have the correct font or have the RD Sport logo and are dark blue. The "fake" RD springs, or the one that Electrodyne sells, is more bright blue and has a generic font.

I've never seen that part number before, so I'm assuming it's been superceded. Electrodyne also comes up with their own part numbers so who knows.

Most of Electrodyne's non-body parts are rebadged products (like they resell B&M shifters as their own) so I wouldn't be surprised if H&R was the source for their springs.

Nothing sold through Electrodyne since mid 2002 can be considered real. RD has sold nothing to them since Jan 03 but they stopped because they suspected Electrodyne of selling knockoffs under thier name. RD Sport, the only legit US dist, only had a few rear aprons last I checked. RD stopped making products and cleared out their NOS.

Thanks for the info Fred. I'll snap some pics this weekend and get the coil count, etc.

              Thanks to all who replied

From what I remember, these springs were originally ordered from Turner. A friend of mine a few years ago was looking for springs/shocks for his '90 325iC. He had a local shop order/install them...and I remember him requesting H&R Sports/Bilstein Sports. He received these blue "Racing Dynamics" springs. On all 3 cars they have been on, the springs seem to sit lower than H&R sports, from what I can tell.
