    Best tires for the money...

I am thinking of getting a new set of tires. I already have a set of snow's so that isn't part of the equation, I just need something for the spring/summer/fall. They will be on stock bottle caps (I want to get a nice set of 16's, but gonna do suspension first) unless I can get a nice set of wheels for cheap between now and the time I actually buy the tires.

From the small ammount of research I have done, I think my best bet would be a set of Falken Azenis, H rated tires. They are $55 each and apparantly good life and excellent dry traction. Unfortuately they only come in the stock 195 size, I would like to go to 205's (I am pretty sure 205's fit on stock bottlecaps, correct me if I am wrong.) I guess they lack a little on the wet traction, but that isn't a big deal for me, I will just race in the dry, and drift in the wet :)

I am thinking of doing some autocross next year, and whatever tires I buy will be the one's I use for that.

More info please. what will you be doing? driving around town?

Azenis are not the best choice for daily driving as they wear pretty fast, and are borderline dangerous in the wet when worn, which may seem cool until you total your car.

if you're willing to put up with that, they are great for the money, at least in so far as performance. pracitality on the other hand, they arent so great.

        I don't want "cheap" I want "inexpensive" :)

Tire wear is always something that I have a hard time deciding on. Wet traction isn't really a big issue for me, I drove my old car on practically bald tires in the rain, not much trouble. I have riden my motorcycle with bald tires in the rain, the trick is just to go the speed limit :)

But wear is definatly an issue. And I don't really know anything about it.

Oh yeah, my friend has parada spec-2's on his car, how do those compare to the Azenis sports?

Kumho 711's and 712's freaking suck. You couldn't pay me to put those on my car.

I have BF Goodrich Traction T/As on my stock wheels. Very good tires, nice grip, little road noise and good ride

              they were also gangsta cheap.

Azenis are GREAT performance tires, but not the best for daily driving. 30,000 miles or so and they are done and thats on the long end. And if its raining hard or snowing, just stay home.

I do NOT reccomend the Azenis for daily driving. My friend had them on his 325is and wore them to nothing VERY quickly.

I know nobody else likes it but Falken Ziex ARE good tires. They grip decent in the dry, they've impressed me recently in the rain, and they have a very long life to them.

I just threw on some Falken Ziex 512s, they are the longer-lasting version of the Azenis. :) They're the same price and are better for a daily. I would buy a second (different) set for the track though...

Really good tires. $55 each for me. They're great for stock size, 205/60/14. They last a long time, and have great rankings on TireRack. Do it!

I'm running 195/60/14 Azenis Sports. I auto-x my car, and I drive like a freaking maniac whenever I can. I'm at about 12k miles into the set and they are now dangerously worn. I consider that pretty damn good for how little they cost. :D

Warning though, they DO get scary at high speed in heavy rainfall past the half worn mark, as Rob said. Not recommended for standing water. If the ground is just wet, they kick ass.

If these seem to much for you, the 205/60/14 ZE-512's aren't too shabby.

How about a comparison of the BFGoodrich Traction T/As and the Yokohama ES100's? I've done some quick pricing and the Yokohama's seem to be a little cheaper, but in ride quality what are the pro's and con's about both relative to eachother and also maybe a preference as well?
