As the title states. Is it possible? safe? Stoopid looking? (first 2 are MOST important) Thanks
225/50 tires on a 15x6.5 rim?

I'm running 205/55 r15 on my 15x6.5 bbs now. The shoulders are squared for the most part and it handles pretty good. I guess the extra bulge would compromise handling a little bit....hhhmmmm09 BMW 328xi touring 6spd

It's fine. I doubt anyone could feel a real difference between a 225/50 and a 205/50 on a 6.5" wheel other than having more absolute grip.
but hey, this is the site where 195s on a 9" wheel are "cool". ;)Comment

yeah, it's common to fit r-comps in that size on the 14" basketweaves. Good combo, light and cheap too.Comment

I used to run 205/55's on a 7" rim, but at one point I had to put 225/50's on the back. I felt a noticeable change in cornering feel, basically the rear end felt a little "squishier". It wasn't huge, but it was different. I put a set of 195/55 Star Specs on and it feels much better, and is faster around Willow Springs. Tire compound > size, within reason of course.
Nothing wrong with a 225 on a 6.5 rim, just sharing my experience.1973 BavariaComment

Precision, yes, as Q-ship mentioned: the tyre walls are going to be significantly flexed inwards and shoulders are going to be very rounded. I'd go with 8Jx15 on a 225/50, though you could probably get away with 7.5.
And mind, I am all against 'stretch' in tyres - but I am also against bad handling and E30 steering (BMW steering in general, but that's another can of worms) is already VERY limited in that regard.Comment
