Best extreme performance summer 16" tire

I am pondering over 16's and 15's right now and am trying to figure what my stickiest 16" tire options are now for my daily driver.

    re-11 205/55-16 $141
    star spec 205/50-16 $98
    kumho xs 215/45-16 $95
    yoko neova ad08 205/55-16 $143

I am kinda seeing the kumho as a win for price and size. They are all very sticky though. Let me here your thoughts.
    Thanks as allways

I drove a car with Star Specs and it by FAR blew away the Kuhmo XS in all aspects. I've been waiting to finish up my DZ101s so I can move on to the Star Spec Z1s. :D

From what I've read, you really can't go wrong with any of them. And lucky for you, the two that fit the E30 are the cheapest.

      i.e. 205/55/16 is too tall.

You can get the re-11's for $120/piece. I have heard there great tires. Im sure the others are great too though.

Car and Driver recently did a test on 7 tires using the Michelin Pilot Sports as the reference marker.
                Here's the top 3:

                3. Kuhmo XS(highest grip in the dry but very poor and unpredictable in the wet)

                2. Hankook Ventus V12(3rd highest grip in dry and tied for first in the wet)

                1. Dunlop Star Spec(2nd highest grip in dry and tied for first in the wet but a little more hardcore in terms of ride and noise)

The RE-11 and Yoko Neova's weren't part of the test but the RE760(4th place) and Yoko S-Drive(6th place) were.

They didn't have a chance to test out the General UHP Exclaim though and would've been interesting to see how it compared as well.

You forgot the toyo r1r in 225/45r16. This would be my choice.

AD08s are the top dog street tire by a wide margin.

Agreed. I don't believe the others are quite to that level. XS is supposedly really nice and getting close.

Is the Hankook RS3 out in that size? If the RS2 gives us any idea the RS3 may dethrone a lot of tires again.

                          What?

The R-S2 was WAY behind the pack (RT-615, AD07, RE01R). I have them on my E30 still, they are not top tier at all. The R-S3 was already tested, and like the old model, still lags behind the competition.

The XS has ridiculously good lateral traction in the dry, but lacks some transitional response and is generally poor in the wet (unlike the AD08, Z1 and RE11, which are excellent there). It's like a super-duper R-S2, with the same downsides. It's main advantages are dry traction, lots of sizes, and cheap pricing.

I disagree. On track the RS2 was better than the 615 on an E36 M3.

Maybe for heat. But I've seen a bunch of test data showing that RT615 is faster in autox, generates higher g's on a skidpad, is MUCH better with transitional response, etc.

                              I've had both too, fwiw.
